super slow ssd speeds

i've had this ssd for a while now, and am using it as my primary drive for this new build, but for some reason it 's running really slow, so i used crystal disk to benchmark it. here are the results

it's plugged into sata 6gb/s, running windows 7, what could be going wrong?

Your 4K and 4K QD=32 scores are nearly identical. Looks like your disk controller doesn't support NCQ, which would be the case if it was set for IDE rather than AHCI.

It's set as ahci

so I looked in my bios, it's set to ahci, but under the ahci config settings it doesn't detect the sata 6gb/s ports, and when i go to the boot options, it identifies the ssd as, IDE:S0 corsair force ssd

update: I updated the marvel controller and was able to push higher speeds out of it, here are the newer results but I should be getting around 200mb/s write speeds which i'm still not touching, and the boot priority manager is still telling me the ssd is IDE:0, pretty sure 0 is just the port number though

Updating the Marvell controller driver should have no effect on the Intel ports, hint hint 😛.

If you have an older chipset, with no native 6Gbps ports, just use the Intel 3Gbps ports, and install IRST.

what is IRST and why did my speeds go up when I installed the marvell controller update on the asus website?

Intel Rapid Storage Technology, which includes drivers to replace MSAHCI, for the Intel SATA ports.

You can get a lot more useful information with AS-SSD, instead of CDM, as well.

My guess is you have it plugged in to one of the Marvell ports, though I figured that earlier, too. The Intel ports, with MSAHCI or Iastor, are generally better bets, overall. Typically, the Marvell controllers provided very little, aside from higher sequential read speeds, and more total ports.
