While I have high hopes (and granted haven't seen the trailer) I agree that the sex sounds out of place. I'm having trouble verbalizing my feelings, but in short I feel like it would be a distraction from the focus on the bonds between the company.

Wasn't there sex in Band of Brothers? I distinctly remember a soldier banging some blonde in bed, then getting interrupted by Col. Spears who was looking for shit to steal. He gets up and salutes with his bare ass showing, then goes back to nailing the chick.

This is Hanks, Speilberg, and Co, dudes who could have retired with more money than they needed ages ago, they make epic movies like this because they love doing it.

So? BoB didn't need that bullshit and I certainly don't want to see it during The Pacific. I want to see nothing but gritty war stories just like Band of Brothers.

Haha, now that you mention it that does sound familiar. Although I maintain there's a difference between something like that and an intimate sex scene. There's no question I'll still watch this, though I'll have to wait until it's available on dvd or blueray.

At that point in the mini-series, it wasn't even really all about hardcore fighting and camaraderie anyway. The war effort (for them) was winding down and soldiers were doing random, crazy shit. You've got Spears and other soldiers stealing stuff, raiding people's homes. You've got Nixon in search of booze, and you've got that young whippersnapper shaggin' some hot chick.

It didn't take away from the story, it was just a scene that just showed that chaos that was going on at that time.

Break what atmosphere? The atmosphere was already pretty light. I'd say that stealing, boozing, and sexin' pretty much go together; so I don't really think that it broke the atmosphere during that segment of the episode. Hell, Nixon was going on about his wife leavin' him and taking the damn dog.
