Hi,

I am currently researching a 1U Xeon system, and I need to ensure that the Power Supply is sub 300W. I am not going to be using any large hard drives or powered peripherals, and sound is not necessary either. All that is necessary are two procs, 4GB of RAM, and a small hard drive to load the OS. What is the smallest 1U power supply I can use and be okay? All of the 1U systems being sold online are using at least 350W. Also are there any good mobos that don't have a lot of bells and whistles?

Thanks

Even with full powered Xeons that shouldn't go over 300 watts. Just use two Northwood Xeon's.

Sounds good. It appears I will have to get a barebones 1U case and put in a sub 300W power supply. Anyone know of any good low powered Dual Xeon Mobos?

A motherboard will at most soak up like, 35 watts of power or so. Most are passivley cooled. So I really doubt that there will be a special low power motherboard, as the CPU's and stuff are a much larger concern.
