Howdy,

Looking for a case that has a side window, GOOD COOLING, and under $100
I've looked at two seriously,
- Antec Super Lanboy - Found it for $62.00 Free Shipping (seems like a good deal) http://www.pricegrabber.com/search_getp...p?masterid=1256441&search=super+lanboy

- XION II Silver (buying a diff PSU) - $85ish http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a...06&ATT=11-208-006&CMP=OTC-pr1c3grabb3r

Anyone have these? Good Internal cooling? I'm open to any other sugestions also, Have a DFI LANPARTY UT SLI-D motherboard, and wanna get a SI-120 Thermalright Heatsink. Those being the only limiting factors

That's a good price on the Antec. I have one and like it. I've used cases that have similar chassis to the Xion and it wasn't bad - better than the average "cheap" case, but not quite a "high-end" case. I personally would go with the Antec.

I love my Antec SuperLanboy.
It may not have as much room
as a server style case but its nice
and compact.

So far mine does an excellent job of cooling.
One 120mm intake, one 120mm outtake, and
one 120mm strapped to the harddrive bays
(Sonata 120mm location). I also have a Vantec
PCI van blowing up towards my 7800GT.

I like it because:
1. Nice big side window.
2. Small and Compact.
3. Lightweight.

I've got a Super Lanboy (have had it for about 1.5 years) and its a great case. 120mm fans = quiet computing. But its not a silent case - its real thin aluminum, and the side window means that you'll definitely hear your system noise, just FYI.

Also - its not the most sturdy case out there. At this point my side panels have been warped a little (they're REALLY fragile) and don't close completely.

but other than that it is very nice. Small, which is a pro and a con, depending on how you look at it (lighter, but also cramped).

HDDs fit in a bit loosely which can cause some vibration.

Next case I get I think I'll go for something quieter, maybe the Sonata II or the P180, not sure. But if you want a portable, stylish, cool (literally) case, then I'd reccomend the SLB.

I have not been at all enamored of that ugly clear plastic grill on the front of the LanBoy, and I always dislike "doors". Some of the best cooling cases are those with paired 120 mm fans, front and rear. Take a look at Cooler Master Centurions. They have a mesh front that lets in very good intake air flow, are nice and roomy, plus right now they are being discounted.

The Centurion 5xx's seem to be a replacement for the older Centurions, so this may be a stock clear-out that will be over soon. Right now, a windowed (black or silver) Centurion 5 can be purchased for less than $50 from Newegg, with $15 for shipping. The 530/ 531 cases are on sale at some of the online stores also, but not that inexpensively. One advantage is you actually get both fans installed with the older one. The newer version only comes with the rear 120, and an empty front mount.

I have had a Super Lanboy for about a year. It is great. The door is actually one of the advantages in my opinion; it blocks air flow through the optical drive, which would result in dust accumulating in it (the drive).

The hard drive cage is perfect. The drives fit in sideways so you can hide the drive cables out of the way. The tray may fit loosely at first. All you need to do is to unbend the corners a little bit to make it fit tightly.

The intake fan cools the hard drives perfectly.

The only disadvantage of the case is that it is a little bit flimsy. But, that is why it is so light. You just need to be gentle with it.

CompUSA have them on sale every now and then for $80.00 plus a $40.00 manufacturer rebate. This was the last.

Right now, they have it for $64.99.

I really like your grill better! Someone has commented about some occasional sales at CompUSA; I really thought about it somewhat, but I passed up the LanBoy then, and bought another box instead.

Also have the SLB, it's a nice case for sure, light, looks clean, the blue LED's are nice. The aluminium is quite flimsy, and the window side doesn't fit on perfectly, but never-the-less, it's a nice case. I agree the waffle looks fairly crap, and the plastic front is a con, if you're quick to anger, and kick the front of the pc, then the SLB may not be for you. The SLB has a handy little tray behind the door to secure small stuff (aka, excess screws, money and possibly small tools).

Btw Zap, did you just take off the waffle and add one of those custom fan covers? Looks so much better than the waffle grill.

And I'm completely content with my SLB. I just need to clear up some cables.

[TBH, I don't like the flipped hard drive bays, but some people will love it].

That's exactly what I did. The waffle grill just snaps on - you just have to study it a moment to find the places it attaches and just press on it at the right spots and it comes right off. The fan attaches to the chassis by these long screws. Just remove the screws and the fan comes off. Hold the fan in place with your fingerguard over it and screw it back on - done!

Heck, why didn't you use your own Pricegrabber link? Pick it up at Circuit City for $91+tax - ends up cheaper than eBay + shipping and you have it in your hands right away. Also, Buy.com for about $81 with free shipping.

My bad, didn't know it came with all the other stuff. That looks like an original Antec SmartPower unit in there - not bad, but no 24 pin ATX power. If it was a SmartPower II, then it would have been a truely HOT deal. As it is, not bad.
