Super Lanboy front USB ports

2 builds now.

1st mobo was a Neo2 Platinum, 2nd is a Lanparty SLI-DR.

Both instances only the top front USB port works. I have both series of plugs connected to a single header on the motherboard. One connector is all 5 plugs, the other is just 4, the extra ground is not plugged in (because the header only has 9 pins, duh)

Do I need to have all 5 plugs attached? Only 4? Should I use different headers?

Help me please, DEAR GOD WON'T YOU HELP ME?

Thx 😀

You have it right, the female plug with 9 openings should plug into 1 mb header and enable both usb ports. That is an odd problem, maybe try a different usb header and check your bios to make sure the header is enabled. Both front usb's are working fine on my Abit IC7 mb.

m 🙂

My case has 10 indivdual pins though. It isn't the single plug that you get with USB headers supplied by the motherboard manufacturer.

So instead of having one big honkin' plug, I have 5 individual plugs for each port. Just can't figure out if I need to have all 5 plugged in (and therefore need to plug each port into its own header) or if I have too many GND plugs plugged in.

TY for the help though.
