Super Lanboy case speaker?

Building a new machine, and I cannot determine if there is a speaker in the super lanboy case. There is an audio connection for the front audio ports which I have tried connecting to the motherboard, but I am not getting any audio indications when the machine powers up. Is anyone familiar enough with this case to let me know if there is a case speaker and if so, which wires to use to connect it to the Motherboard?

From a quick glance at the manual it doesn't appear to have one. I know my Antec 900 does not, & I've heard others complain about recent Antec cases omitting it.

The front audio connectors are just to relocate the audio jacks, they don't provide PC speaker capability. If your case had one it would have a 4-pin connector much like the front panel LEDs and power/reset switch. It would be clearly labelled as such, so if you're not seeing it you don't have one.

Some newer motherboards have an onboard speaker, if yours doesn't you can buy one to add to your case.

This kit has one that is small & wouldn't require mounting elsewhere in the case.

Thanks Viper GTS for the confirmation about the case speaker and the link to a reasonable fix. My new motherboard will not post and the lack of a case speaker isn't helping me isolate the problem. Your input is appreciated.

Yeah, I'm uncomfortable not hearing those "Everything's OK" beep/boops since the new case I have here lacks a system speaker too. Here is one without all the extra junk: http://store.yahoo.com/directron/d500speaker.html - they say it's for a specific case, but that is just the white mounting ring (you may find a place that that will work in your case) - if you can't use the ring, just take it off and stick the little noisemaker anywhere with a dab of hot glue or foam mounting tape.

Just some quick thoughts...

Sometimes cases have speakers, sometimes they don't -- mostly not these days!

Sometimes mobos have speakers on them, sometimes not...

Sometimes there is a speaker, but it's turned off in BIOS, or not jumpered by default.

Er...

Did I forget anything? :)

I ALWAYS benchbuild my computers BEFORE putting everything in the case. That's the beauty of removable mobo trays... they make great test benchs!

Put another way, the LAST thing I do when I build a computer is put it in the case.

You might try this method... ;)

Some cases don't come with a normal speaker, but instead comes with a little piezo thing that plugs right into the motherboard with 1" wires.

Sambo, when I'm building a new machine, the FIRST thing I do is to install CPU, fan/heatsink, RAM and video card outside the case (not even bolting onto the motherboard tray), hook up a power supply and make sure the thing works. Then, put it inside the case.

That one at bestbyte is nice - I like those, they come with some Athenatech cases and they are low on shipping for small orders. I ordered one for my case and one for my tool kit and it was under $5.00 shipped.

Hahahaha, everyone here should order 2 speakers. Make 'em scratch their heads in wonder.

I've got a few of those already though, from various cases.
