Super Lag! Need Help!

I just installed BF2 on this computer, and I'm having a strange problem. When I play the game I get this wierd lag problem; like after holding W for several seconds, I can let go, but I will continue to run for several more seconds. Shooting can take several seconds to respond, and the bots often disappear and reappear elsewhere. I've tried several reinstalls, but that doesn't seem to help. I am running the game in a widescreen resolution(1680x1050), but I get the same problem in 1280x1024. In 800x600, it is less noticable, but still there. All textures are on high, but AA and AF are currently set to nothing.

Someone please help me!

 
how many other apps are running on the computer when you play BF2? are your video drivers the latest from the website? isnt there patches to download for BF2? have you installed them? what version are you at?
