Any play with this Super Joy Video Arcade Game System? For $20 it doesn't seem like a bad deal, or $36 for the complete package. I'm considering it because I just wanna play some of my own faves like Mario Bros without having to run MAME all the time. Whaddya think? Are these guys reliable?

What is Mappy?

I like Donkey Kong, 1942, Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., Joust, Dig Dug etc. I wonder how close these games are to the original. I'm 99% sure these are not direct ports but knockoffs.

That thing looks really cool.

Has anyone used one of these?

The wording on the page makes me very hesitate to order...

"Example screen shots of a few of the built in games.".

and

"Please note that some games are slightly different and may have substitute games".

Those two combined make me think that it's coming with rip-off games that don't look nearly as good as the originals.

If it's legit, though, I'd like to get one of these for myself and some friends for Xmas gifts...

EDIT: They don't even list Donkey Kong in the games, and yet they have a screen from it? They list DK2, but not the one in the screen. And those screens are not from a TV with this unit running, those are arcade screens.

Yeah probably, at least for most of them. And it's not as though I really care what they look like, so much as how well they play. MAME on the other hand is simply excellent, but I haven't seen anything like it in a little portable.

Yeah I noticed that too.

I wonder if I should just risk $20.

If you do risk it, let me know. I'd love to get some feedback on it.

This is Mappy!

Mappy is still one of my favorite games. My friend has the working arcade unit in his house and a bunch of us routinely have Mappy tournaments. My high score is about 300k.

MAME doesn't do it justice but its not bad.

I've seen this system before. It has NES circuitry in it and the games are the NES versions.

It's a decent deal considering what you get.
