needed to mail some letters and a package. i got to the counter, put all my mail down and the person leafed through real quick, make sure i had all the postage.
i had those american flag stamps that are pretty standard. well, one of my letters was to a Lady Friend of mine and the guy taking the letters noticed the stamp. he clucked his tongue at me and said "this one is upside down." (this one being the stamp)

im sure i turned a little red but admitted i had done it on purpose.
he just shook his head and was like "i cant believe that sort of disrespect."

why did the man judge me, i was trying to be sweet?!

anyone else find my upside-down stamp offensive?

Turning the flag upside down is equivalent to a display of severe disrespect to this country.

i thought putting a flag upside down is a signal for distress or help... or does that only apply to the military?

oh crap!
i forgot i was in america!

silly me.

yes, i spose...but...its not the flag, its a stamp to me first. i didnt think of it in those terms until he pointed it out.
and, actually, ive found myself putting them on upside down on bills, etc by mistake becuase the stamp in question causes a sort of vertigo to me.
but i did this on purpose for its more traditional usage on letters.

so you are telling us that you would rather use some seldom known, even less noticed way of expressing your emotions for this "lady friend" than to show respect for my flag?

How dare you??? You dont deserve to even breathe my air! Get out of my country, now!

In other words, who cares...its just a damn stamp man.

Well, it is frowned upon, but it shouldn't be a huge deal since it's just a stamp, and not an actual flag. Maybe postal workers are just anal about stuff like that? :p

Say, how much do those upside-down airplane stamps go for?

the upside-down flag is an affront, even with the stamp.

how is an upside-down stamp sweet, too?

If it makes you feel better, the stamp was right side up... it was the envelope that he put the wrong
way around.

You guys need to pull the flagpoles out of your backsides, its making your necks too stiff.
