Has anybody got any review for it ? It seems to be a good deal to me. Would appreciate if somebody can comment on its quality.

the one I purchased last week for my wife arrived last night - works great! And it is so much smaller than any other dvd player I have owned.

cakin, can you verify that the hack works? It said region free, but how about Macrovision disable?

you can read a whole bunch of consumer reviews at VCDhelp.com

a quick summary:
1. not perfect visual quality
2. plays almost every media you throw at it
3. there seems to be a lot of defective ones - and a lot of variation in what works and what doesn't between the units.
4. it's very quiet
5. $50 is a GREAT price for this!

Oh, what the hell is wrong with me? I can't find the free shipping activation. Would someone please help me cross the street?

Found this at arstechnica.com: "Hey, if you're going to go on budget, do it in style... Get a mustek. It plays just about everything in decent quality. And it costs half of what is mentioned here. Personally I have a decent JVC for DVD's and keep a small, cheap and cheerful Mustek as backup for playing SVCD,DVCD and stuff like that... And you can make macrovision go away on it too, and for us europeans, it is also region-free and converts 60 Hz NTSC to 50 Hz PAL very well..."

Here's a long thread at vcdhelp.com

vcdhelp overall rating 7.2. It's sounds like you can get a stinker, but if it isn't a dud it's quite good, and there's near unanimity that IT PLAYS EVERYTHING YOU PUT IN IT.

I did both hacks (macro & region) it took less than a minute. Problem is, I dont have any out of region dvd's to test with it.
I also don't how you would test the macrovision, everything I have put in it plays just fine!

Remember, folks, that this player is very unusual in that it does not have S-Video or component video outputs.

It would be a fine choice for an older television that only has composite video inputs anyway, but for a modern TV, I would strongly suggest you spend the extra $10 or so for something like the Apex AD-1200.

Once you've seen the difference, you'll find the blurring and color bleeding of composite video pretty annoying.

Just my 2¢.

Hook up the outputs to a VHS machine and try to record on a VHS tape. If the recorded video seems normal, you have disabled macrovision. If the video can't sync, or fades in and out, macrovision is alive and functioning.
