Super cool Xbox 360 feature

Last night, while looking at some pictures from a disc on my 360, i stumbled across an awesome feature that must have been there the whole time but I just never saw. I thought I'd post about it becasuse A) either everyone already knows and its fun to laugh at my ignorance or B) people like me didn't know and might like to know.

Anyway, the feature is the abiltiy to use any photograph from any viewable source as the background to the Xbox. Its basically a selectable wallpaper like you'd use in windows. The effect is really cool and goes a long way to personalizing the xbox.

I was hanging out with my buddy who also has an Xbox, and he didn't know about it either.

SO theres the story, enjoy it one way or another.
 
Hmm, i don't even have a 360, and I knew about that.

Microsoft offers background skins on their website as well.

Its like a wallpaper, so its just one pic that goes behind all the tabs. Its pretty cool
 
Hey that's pretty cool, just tried it out 🙂 Maybe with the fall dash update they can let you pick one per tab. Thanks for the info!

Yep. Thank God for the guy that created Transcode360. I'm able to stream all my Xvid and Divx files now.

I've been trying to rip my DVDs of Justice League to WMV but I just don't like the quality that I'm getting out of those compared to what I get with Xvid.

I spent half an hour trying to find cool images for my 360's background upon discovering how cool it looked when you got a good one that didn't screw with the text color. 🙂

The 360 CAN display different pictures in the different blades, but that feature is currently limited to the pre-sold themes (I know the PGR3 theme has multiple backgrounds). Hopefully they enable that in a future firmware update.
 
I knew this. Helpful hint: Whatever image you choose as a background will be kept on the hard drive even if you pulled it off a removable disk. For instance, if you put a NSFW picture of your wife as a background temporarily it will save it in another location. So even if you choose to remove the background it will still be kept in the background options list. So if anyone where to ever go to that menu they would see it. You must manually go and delete this background file.
