Super cool! Added pics of desk found. Late 1800's Desk!

Couldnt do any of this when we bought it because it was way to hot but here is some of what we found:

Found a box full of old pictures from the late 1800's to around 1965.
Alot of very old christmas orniments
Vintage NEW chriestmas wrapping paper
A vintage tea pot made by Hall
Lots of old pots and pans
Electrical how to books from the 1920's to 1970's One of them is a old navy manual how to
Old Swinger Sewing Machine with a very old electric motor on it
Old 1950's record player
All kinds of old books including some racy ones from penthouse how to please a man from 1974 and a few how to please a woman too 😱
Old post cards
Letters written from 1907 from here in town
All metal bed frame and head board
Vintage crib
Vintage Bed Pan
Vintage High Chair
all kinds of other stuff I am forgetting right now but all very old stuff. My house in the library is filled with old blue prints, and house sketches, how to manuals all from the 50's and 60's. Lots of love stories and several full encylopedas sets (like 5 or 6) from the 30's-60's.
Oh and in the corner in the basement was a very old school desk (30's maybe) and a old dinning room table in serious need of restoration. Has claw feet legs. Really cool.

Pics of desk. There is this one and about 8-9 others if you click next.

I was wrong about the age. It is more likly around the late 1800's!!!!!
I was way off and doesnt seem to be that much of a need for one but very cool!

Very cool. Have you considered trying to contact the previous owners or family? The pictures & letters are likely worthless to you aside from the initial novelty, but could be priceless to them.

that is really cool that you found all that stuff... some of it could be worth some money too!
when we moved into our house, all the old owners left were some tacky dishes in the garage 🙁

yes very good idea!

in the summer i go to auctions all the time. one of the auctions was at a rental place. I ended up getting everything in one slot for a cheap price.

While going through it i found pictures, letters, paperwork from a young man serving in the military.

I was able to track down his parents and returned everything i could (kept the stuff i wanted, tv etc and could sale) and sent back all the papers, pictures. come to find he was in IRAQ and they had not heard from him in a few weeks. NOt sure if he was killed i havnt talked to them agian.

pics? 🙂

I am uploading pics of the desk. As soon as I get my scanner hooked up I will start doing the pictures.

As for contacting the old owner. We thought of that but we were told that all the stuff they left was unwanted and been gone through. Why they didnt want the photos is beyond me because it has stuff in there about the entire family from the 1800's on. Mom must be too old to car and her kids, well they are kids and saw the money they were getting from the same of the house.

We did find some old hand made Orniments and some with kids names on them. I am sure they missed these when packing becuase they were in a box under some boxes and rather small. We are going to send them to her. I will also mention the pictures as well and see what they want with them if they missed them for some reason. Lots of family history there in that one box and extreamly cool looking at the old clothes, cars, and one I took a quick look of a old steam powered cotton gin.

But pics of the desk coming and will change OP to show when up loaded.

Thanks. We LOVE the new house.

And yes I need to scan the photos. I used my digital camera to take the pic of the desk 😛

Taking a digital pic of the pics will look like ick.

??? that desk has to be anywhere from 1930-1960. Its in great condition from actually being a childs school desk. The wood is hardwood so if I wanted to I could sand it all down and redo it with some new paint but that would kills its value big time. Always leave antique things in thier original state. Besides all that etching on the wood and metal makes it more unique and valuable. Wish I had another one though 😀
