The AP (1/27, Miller) reports, "Hutchinson also said the National Football League's Super Bowl has been designated a special security site, which means extra resources will be devoted to security for the game in Houston. Pilots already have been notified of temporary flight restrictions over the stadium."
News 24 Houston (1/27, Stanley) reports, "The Department of Homeland Security is adding extra U.S. Customs agents to inspect anyone planning on traveling into the U.S. for Super Bowl Sunday. They'll spot check vehicles and documents along the various ports of entry, which divide the Texas-Mexico border. If you plan on traveling to the Super Bowl through one of the International Bridges in Laredo, expect to have your vehicle and personal belongings scrutinized by U.S. Customs agents. ... Hundreds of federal agents will expect everyone crossing the border into the United States to show proper documentation such as citizenship as well as declaring all personal belongings."

They do this for a lot of events and it isn't the 1st time for the Superbowl.

I'm pretty sure they've done it ever since DHS was set up.

I seem to recall that they tried out the face recognition technology at last years superbowl to catch all the terrorists and deadbeat dads. Erm, I mean, just to catch the terrorists.
