Every single time I open a avi file, explorer crashes with the "memory could not be written" error (which usually indicates my PC is fucked and I need to build a new one... which I really hope is not the case since I spent a shitload of money) followed by the data execution prevention error.

I'm thinking this may be linked to how AVIs try to play on the side. Is there a way to disable this? Or is my PC screwed hardware wise? It just started doing this today totally randomly, but then again I have not really opened AVIs in a long time, I just started working on a video.

could be the codecs are messed up. first format. if that doesn't work, check your RAM with memtest. worst case scenario, you have toi replace a faulty stick. not your whole computer.

I JUST formated, its a totally fresh install. Ram is ok too.

I unregistered some DLLs that stopped the video from trying to play on its own, and it seems to have solved it.
