There was a "online internet security" check thing I was visiting and all of the sudden I got a bunch of pop ups.

The next thing I knew, my IE got hijacked.

It keeps placing things like twaintec.dll, doegcppqd.exe(32kB) on my computer and even AdAware with newest definition will not remove it.

Symptoms: pop up ads for anything from porn to mortgage to Verizon Wireless upon closing IE.

It said a file critical for windows have been replaced by an unknown version and asked for Windows CD which i don't have here right now.

I set Mozilla as default browser now, but how can I remove the hijack infection when Adaware fails?

And Spybot Search and Destroy... it will scan before Windows fully loads, so it usually gets rid of stuff like that.

Don't use Hijack this unless you know exactly what you are doing. Once you remove something from there, it's gone. I've seen lots of people who deleted things because they had no idea wtf they were doing and ended up having to wipe out the computer and start over. It's a great program and very powerful... but dangerous if you use it wrong.

I use a combination of .. Adaware , Spybot Search and Destroy, and SpywareBlaster to detect and help keep off spyware.
