I initially found out about this movie when I looked at the extra stuff in Portal 2. There was this mini-game, created in the Source engine, with some shit from the movie.

Anyway, want to go see it?

Saw this last night and thought it was pretty good. Will definitely be appreciated on some level by those who grew up in the late 70s/80s.

Definitely. Especially those who saw E.T. as a child, I think this film will produce much nostalgia.

Make sure to stay for the credits, because its hilarious.

Saw Super 8 yesterday, and I loved it. This movie has a lot of charm... A quality that so many other movies lack.

As James Berardinelli (of ReelViews.net) put it, "Abrams remembers the simple rule that a majority of his contemporaries have forgotten: action and mayhem have meaning only when an audience cares about the people trapped within the maelstrom."

I took the kids to see it Friday. We all enjoyed it quite a bit, it's kind of like Goonies with Aliens.

12 and 9 and there's a few jump out and scare you moments that your 5 year old might not like. Also there's a couple of bad words in it as well.

Yeah it's definitely on the violent side for kids that young.

How old are your kids? Would a 10 year old and a 5 year old enjoy the movie?

If they are boys, I'd say maybe, though there are some scary moments that even made some of my friends almost s*** their pants. (Things happen when you least expect them + loud noise). 10 year old should be alright, 5 I'd say no way.

I thought it was great. I loved how it wasn't HS kids. A ton of nostalgia.
Like someone said earlier, if you saw E.T. as a kid, you will love this movie.

On taking the little ones to see this. Just note:
-It's loud. (Funny, I thought E.T. was loud when I was a kid...must be an Amblin thing.)
-F bombs dropped.
-No gore, but the scenes can be intense.

I'm pissed since Super 8 doesn't come out in this country until August. I thought this kind of shit ended when the internet took off.

Now I have to try and avoid spoilers for 2 months.

Wow! We even have it out in Hong Kong and our release schedule can be months behind the US.
