Super 8 to DVD. help?

i was curious as to what the process was to convert super 8 to dvd. most poeple that know how arent very helpful becuase they think im going to invade on thier profits or somthing. i was just looking to do this for myself. anyone that can help me or direct me in the direction of the right hardware/software.
