Sunset photos

So, I need some opinions here. I will (hopefully) be traveling to Greece in the fall and I want to ensure that I get some good photos of the sunset at Santorini. In terms of filters, etc, what do you guys recommend? Or do you recommend I go without filters and use post-processing to make any corrections? Camera is an EOS 70D if that matters, and if you have specific filter recommendations, please link them.

I don't use any filters, though you might go with a graduated ND filter.

Graduated ND filter is great to have for sunset. IMHO, a circle polarizer filter is more useful since it will cut the glare, bring out the colour of the sky and shadow area, were as ND filter only cut down the brightness of the sky. Or, Shoot 1 shot for the highlight and 1 for the shadow and combine the shots for HDR (polarizer also help here as well).

4. Results and summary

I was going to get the Marumi DHG Super Circular Polarizer CPL PL.D 77 77mm a couple of years back, but I ended up with a set of used 67mm King CPL & 77mm Hoya CPL that picked up locally for $40.

PS. Do not get Cokin filter unless you intend to use it in a studio (I have a set that is collecting dust on my shelf for the last 20+ years).

I also have a few Tiffen filters that are a bit stiff to put on and to take off. The B+W CPL brass filter that I had is a bit heavier than the rest of the filters but screwing it on & off as well as turning ring is absolutely smooth(but that could be because it was mounted on my old lenses that are made out of metal). However, the alloy B+W filters that I have are just as stiff to put on and off as the other manufactures.

Thanks! Now I need to pull up the thread I made about tripods a few months ago so I can figure out which one to buy (no, I never bought one after all my research ).
