It looks great! HOWEVER...

There are too many good games to play right now, and I just don't have the time to play them all... And Sunset Overdrive is one of those games that is going to fall by the wayside. Perhaps I'll pick it up in a few months.

It's just too bad they don't release all of these games more periodically throughout the year.

What great games are out right now? I just finished Shadow of Mordor and am looking for the next game to play. I was thinking about The Evil Within, but after hearing it only lasts about 15 hours, I might wait for a price drop on that. Otherwise, I might have to go for this game, or I'll be without a game for about 2-3 weeks, depending on if I get CoD or wait until Halo.

I'm currently/regularly playing: Madden, Mordor, Destiny, Forza, Diablo, and The Walking Dead. And then there's Halo soon.

Ahh, not to keep going off-topic, but I traded in Madden a couple of weeks ago, finished Mordor on Tuesday (had to get 1 Achievement), didn't care for Destiny, still have Forza 5, never played Diablo, and am not a Walking Dead fan (I intend to go to Dying Light for my zombie fix).

So, I'm going to trade in Mordor soon (probably pick it up again for $20-30 when the Season Pass content is all out), and I'll need something to tide me over to Halo (and maybe CoD, might get it because my friend hates Halo and might get CoD). The Evil Within sounds like it's too short (15 hours is about what folks said it is) to put $50 into, so Sunset Overdrive seems like the only thing on the table.

I've been hearing comments that this game is more style than substance, and with that, I decided to cancel my pre-order. Is it?

what do you mean exactly by this?

just curious because i'm a huge insomniac fan in general and most of their games that i enjoy (primarily ratchet and clank) have a lot of style to them but they are pretty basic in gameplay and just flat out fun.

Yeah pretty much. There's usually not much to Insomniac games in terms of depth in game play but the art, attempts at humor, and mechanics used meld together well to create a good game.

The biggest complaint that I've heard is that as much as Insomniac pushes the idea of grinding, it just isn't very useful (in the areas that people have played). I also haven't heard much good about the story, but the press demos have mostly been small chunks of gameplay. So, I'm not too sure if you can really judge how interesting the story is.

I've got this on my tentative list right now. I'd definitely prefer to play a demo, but I don't think we'll get one? I also have Bayonetta 2 coming in tomorrow, and I don't think there's much of a contest as to which will be considered the better action game. :p

This game has got a lot of Hype behind it and I just don't see it. I don't even think I'd buy this on sale for $29.99..

yeah it might just be the parts people have played, but we won't know til we try it.

as far as the story ... i mean the premise is pretty ridiculous, so i'm not expecting the story to be like the last of us lol. i'm expecting it to just be dumb and funny, kind of like ratchet and clank, but with it's own charm.

I think the story certainly has potential based upon what I've heard, which is why I was a bit disappointed to hear that the game might not be that good. It sounds like there will be factions all with a fairly ludicrous nature (such as the D&D nerds). If they go with some good humor like we've seen in Ratchet & Clank, it could be a lot of fun.

Although, the one thing that I should probably keep in mind is how bad I am at console shooters (it is a "TPS"). Even if I got the game, I'd probably end up frustrated at my inability to play it. :p

quite a few weapons in ratchet and clank "locked on" to targets, so i'm assuming that some of them in this game will as well, which should make the control easier for you hopefully. those games in general have always had top notch control.

EDIT: Reading Aikouka's posts, that's sort of how I'm feeling/leaning too. Good to see outside of BiasGAF, I'm not the only one feeling like this. I just might get Bayonetta 2 and call it a day. SO will have to wait.

Hola mi amigos!

How's it going? :)

Just wanted to drop by and let you know I streamed the first 2 hours of Sunset Overdrive on Twitch and archived it on YouTube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzhT-k2MsGo

I'm curious what your thoughts are on the game.

How would you rate the game, in your personal opinion? I got the game on Pre-order, but am sort of seconding guessing it. As someone said here, lots of good games to play.

I'm on the fence between Bayonetta 2 and Sunset Overdrive. I'm leaning more towards Bayonetta 2 since I missed part one and it is included in the game. So 2 for 1.

Anyways, seems a lot of preliminary opinions I've come across make the game sound kind of boring/repetitive (yes I get most games are repetitive).

I'm heading to Best Buy to return a game, so I might just cave and get Bayonetta 2.

Because then I got Dragon Age, WoD, Halo, and that should really occupy my time until 2015's line up.

I've heard the autoaim when grinding is VERY generous and you almost always want to be grinding in the game. The autoaim is a lot less prevalent when running around supposedly.

I'd be interested in this game if Forza Horizon 2 wasn't so amazing.

Grinding, you mean like to level up?

Or are you talking about riding the rails around?

Picked up Bayonetta and was about to cancel my SO pre-order when I was reminded of the $10 Best Buy credit, with my Unlocked essentially the game was $38.

Pretty sure I'd get $20-25 store credit if I return it within the week, so figured for the low cost of <$20 worth a play through.

Within the first week, basically every game has a TIV of $40, which is $44 after GCU.

Oooohhhh....that makes these even better. I get paid to play Sunset Overdrive!

Now that's how you keep me as a customer!

So I guess it looks like this game is not as good as people expected? Thinking about getting the holiday bundle because I don't think I can stand to play another assassins creed game.

What makes you say that? Most every place gave it good reviews. Also, don't forget that starting next week, all Xbox One consoles are $50 off. If you're going to buy a console now, make sure it's from a place that will refund you the difference when that sale starts. Otherwise, buy it next week.

I kind of expected people to be more hype about it. I need to check out some videos. I can wait until next week or later to get one. I'm looking on best buy's site trying to find something I'd want for $40 so I can get the GCU membership for $30. I trade games in there and normally buy them there too now. But there's nothing I really want lol.

You can pre-order CoD on a My Best Buy account, then that deal leaks into next week as well. In that case, you will be able to get GCU for $30, CoD for $52, trade it in for $44 with GCU, then you'll get the $10 rewards certificate 15 days later, meaning you got $54 out of the $52 purchase.

That is, if you can't find a game. That depends on what you like, but SSB on the 3DS has been a popular buy for that with folks. Worst-case, if you don't have a MBB account or want to do a pre-order, just pick something with a $40 base trade value, and eat the $8 difference on the purchase and trade. $38 for GCU is still awesome.
