i like how you didn't center the sun like most people do. pic generally follows the "rule of thirds" which is pleasing to the eye. personally, i think it needs some level adjustments in photoshop, as well as some sharpening.

Yay! Key West is great, but the single road that you have to drive for miles to get there is kinda annoying. I can only imagine what it must be like to drive 100MPH+ down that road, with the islands and ocean whipping by you. Keep the camera handy; it's a great photo spot. Maybe try to get the sleek silhouette of a sailboat against the sun next time, rather than your modern-style boat, which IMO doesn't look nearly as graceful. I've also heard that the Dry Tortugas are really pretty :)

Link to slightly edited image

i ran some curves processing, straightened the horizon, boosted saturdation and applied some selective smart sharpening with photoshop. picture has a little more pop now.

only thing i might do if i was really bored is try to clone stamp out the lens flare right above the sun.

Try driving half way down the outer banks of North Carolina. Very similar.

I find my eyes atracted to the boat but the boat is underexposed.
Makes the pic hard to look at.

I cant stand people complaining about the straightness of the horizon... Heres something new, THE EARTH IS ROUND! Not only that, but who cares?

Here's a good example http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/403...by-the-sun&qh=sort%3Atime+-in%3Ascraps

I would have cropped the white area because its quite distracting, but it allows you to see that to get the mountains right, the horizon needed to be at a 20º angle or so, and this is why people have a hard time making awesome photography, they follow their "book rules" so bad, they forget to check if the photo is actually good or not

That's because your picture has a curved horizon, not a straight angled horizon. Either get the curve or the straight derivative.
