Ok the problem i am having is that the fan (Sunon 80mm Ultra High Output ) came with a 4 pin connector. What i was wondering is do i need to have it connected to the motherboard(abit nf7) if so do i need to get an adapter or should i RMA the fan and purchase another one. The fan seems like a decent one just dont want it to die later on down the line and i wont be able to tell.

Any help or information is appreciated.

Thanks

You should connect it "only" to a 4 pin molex connector. Connecting a high speed fan to a mobo header could burn out the header, and then the fan goes out too, followed soon by the cpu. 😉

I belive the maximum is 3 Watts (12 Volts, 0.25 Amp) for a MB header. Thats a no load max so I would stay under it by 10%.
