Can anyone tell me what kind of sunglasses the U.S. soldier is wearing in the market at the beginning of the movie Black Hawk Down (around 5:30 in)? Thanks.

I remember when those first came out. Man were they expensive, still are but not as bad as before. If I had the cash to blow on them though, I'd get a pair. I'm happy will my Silver/Ice A-Wire 2.0's till that happens. 🙂

Hm, what color frame/lens are they? I can't find them on the Oakley site, closest thing is X Metal/Ruby but in the movie the frame and lens look a lot darker.

i wanna find a pic of them, i never saw BHD so i wanna see what your talking about. i need a nice pair of sunglasses.

The picture on the website looks a bit different from the actual glasses. Best thing to do for an accurate picture is look on ebay. But don't buy any Oakley's from there. Quite a bit of fakes there, although there are some authentice ones here and there.

Edit:

Pics from eBay:

Zsave some $$ ZZTop "cheap sunglasses" oh yeah!

LOL i wear prescription glasses to be able to see clearly over 4 foot away, and have bought
"Photo Gray" self darkening lenses since 1974,
Only one time did i buy a seperate pair of prescription sunglasses,🙁 What a waste of my time.
The photo grays automatically darken as you go out into a sunny day,and lighten when you enter a building,or the day becomes less bright. 🙂

I had a pair of oakley juliet's a couple days ago, but then I took them back and had them special order a different frame color for me, cause I like the darker frame. I had the plasma frame with the ice lense now will have the x metal frame with the black iridium lense... I have a set of the ruby iridium lenses on special order from oakley, so hopefully they will come in soon, those are pretty damn sweet. Not the ones that go from red to a gold orangish color, but the ones that go from red to blue like in x-men.

Too bad they barely darken and don't block UV light.

How much did you pay for the ruby iridiums? I have the titanium frames with the gold iridium lenses. The titanium frames were the only color I thought looked alright with my skin color, but the gold lenses were the only color with those frames. I was thinking about switching to either ruby, fire, and ice lenses if the price was right 🙂

nice. kick arse snowboarding shades, and titanium/ruby combo goes with my white/red northface jacket and gear!! 🙂

Incorrect. They do darken and they do block UV light. They won't be as dark as sunglasses though. On a scale 1-3 (the scale that most labs use), they are about 2 (sunglasses are 3). And they do block UV light, just as good as regular sunglasses, they transmit about 2-3% of the total UV, which is good enough (the regulation for UV-blocking glasses is 5% or below). And i did not pull these number out of my a$$. I'm working as a lab technician for Lenscrafters.
