Sunglasses: GO

looking at Serengeti, Maui Jim, Costa Del Mar

under $250

polarized
round, medium-small frame
metal
amber lens preferred.

main use: driving, biking, walking around

never owned a nice pair of glasses.

if i chose a MJ or CDM, or perhaps a brand you suggest that is available at Cabelas it will be bought at Cabela's (gift card)

I got a pair of Oakley Square Wire polarized. I forgot how much but it was well under $200 at the SGH Outlet store. It was a BOGO too so I got a 2nd pair of shades for my gf. Slick deal indeed.

I wear Maui Jims to go out, for driving around, etc. I wear Oakley Five Squares at work (Army) in case I get blown up in the face.

Maui Jims are awesome, but I have never heard of Serengetis.
I have Ray-Ban polarized and love them. I got them at Saks for $50 last winter during a huge 70% off sale.

There is no way in hell I would pay $250 for glasses... unless I made a lot more money.

Don't know any of those brands but on a side note, wtf is up with all the people wearing the huge oversized sunglasses. Looks so fucking stupid.

try them on at sunglasses hut or whatever and order them online. found my pair of ray ban for almost half of what they were selling em at sunglasses hut

i forget what my MJs are called, but pretty much all MJs have great lenses or better and style is not something you can find on the internet so just go buy some 😀

It's really hard to fathom the cost of expensive sunglasses. I know there's a difference between polarized and non but in the end, I just can't believe it costs anywhere near the price of a pair to make. For example, exactly how much does it cost Oakley to produce a pair of polarized sunglasses? What's their cut... their margin?

You can't go wrong with Serengeti (pilots overwhelmingly choose this brand due to their superior optics) or Maui Jim. Stay away from Costa Del Mar - legendary for having the worst "fake/fraudulent" warranty in the business!

Go with a polarized style you like best at a price that hopefully is acceptable to you.

But don't be cheap about it either.

Get the model you want, even if it's above your price point. Otherwise, you'll regret it!! The extra money you pay will be quickly forgotten/forgiven when you're truly happy with your chosen product (I've gone $200 above my original price point and I'm truly satisfied b/c my sunglasses fit my face better than anything else and are truly unique).

I can't sell someone on a pair of $150+ glasses, you have to try them.

They're not revolutionary, though, but most of the expensive sunglasses have a clarity that your $10... or even $50 sunglasses usually lack.

That said though, if you have a habit to lose or break your sunglasses, don't bother.
