Sunburns

Hey,
I spent all day yesterday out side in the sun and now I have the worst sunburn ever in my life. 🙁

What do you guys do to ease the pain? I tried Solarcaine Aloe Gel and that felt great. But it end's up making my skin all sticky. I went swimming in my pool and that felt really good at first but then the chlorein (sp?) started to irritate the burn.

I need to get this healed fast, I can't even put on a shirt. 🙁

Thanks for the help,
Justin

Not kidding and I urge you to try this out

Yogurt

try it out, works much better than alo vera crap. Of all the things I'v tried Yogurt is by far the best after sunburn "lotion".

just make sure you can take a shower after you wait for it to cool your burn because it gets rather icky when it starts to dry up.

I just got over two nasty sunburns myself. The first time i had my gf rub Aloe-vera ALL over me...and i peeled like crazy! Don't use Aloe-vera unless you plan to peel. If you do want to peel and get it over with, get a lufa-brush and make sure you scrub yourself a little harder than usual and the skin will shed in no time. Otherwise, get some lotion with Vitamin E and you should be all set.

Sponging with a strong baking soda solution can get rid of a lot of the stinging.

Good luck.

Do you have to be functional for the next few days? If not, then get some Benedryl and sleep it off.

Benedryl, ibuprophen, and solarcane/aloe gel are my favorites for getting through a sun burn.

Thanks for the help guys!

rgwalt: Well I'm on my vacation but I'd like to be able to get a few things done, I'll keep it in mind for next time though! 🙂

I think I'll just stick with the regular Solarcaine, it's much less sticky then the Aloe Gel, and last few times I had a burn I didn't end up peeling with it. I usally use this cream we have (forget the name), it's actually made as a soap for babies but it has no smell in it completly soaks into your skin, moisturises (sp?) too. I'll check in a bit...

I'll try baking soda later also!

Nonono... use GOLD BOND medicated lotion.
Someone recommended it in another sunburn thread.. My g/f had horrible burns on her legs and the Gold Bond worked like magic. Pain stopped immediately.

She was using solarcaine before and it barely did anything.
