Hi all,

i was about to get this HSF combo,
i have some concerns...
My case(Coolermaster Centurion 534) has a duct fan from the panel.
if i use this HSF(or this kind), do i have to sacrifice the duct tube?

The sunbeam Tower 120 has a fan inside the heatsink plate, however it is blowing vertically, instead of horizontal.
If it blow horizonal like Zalman CNPS9500LED, it can help the airflow to exhaust the air to the rear fan(case).

So is it still a good buy? i saw some contest(local) that use this Sunbeam Tower 120 as standard air cooling... so i guess it may be a at least good if not great.

I have around $70 credit, what should i get. Air or liquid if budget ok.

Thanks

You will have to remove the fan duct from the side panel of your case. The Sunbeam Tuniq Tower 120 is a better air performer than the Scythe Ninja in some circumstances.

Excellent cooler. Unfortunately it won't fit the motherboard in most cases (literally...in most computer cases). The Asus P4P800 series has the socket mount too close to the top of the motherboard, so any 120mm heatsink solutions will bump into the power supply.

Only way to avoid this with this heatsink is to:

a) Mount the PSU in a different place...in most cases this means outside the case.
b) Mount the heatsink so that the fan is blowing up toward the PSU. Much less efficient

So, I'd recommend the Zalman 9500 or water cooling. I'm not familiar with wc products so I'd just recommend the 9500.

What you need to understand is that the very top tierd heatsinks all are within 1c - 3c of each other.

Another thing you need to be aware of is that what works on another persons system might not work on your system. There are way to many variables from system to system for anybody to claim that a certain heatsink is the BEST!!

As long as you understand these 2 things you will be fine!

Also understand that some heatsinks just install easier than others.

Good Luck!!

Another thing to keep in mind is that these L-shaped HSF tend not to move much (if at all) air on the motherboard for the obvious reason. Provided that problem is taken care of, my personal rating would be:

1. Tuniq 120
2. Big Typhoon
3. CNPS 9500

Tuniq 120 and Big Typhoon were 2~3C apart, and CNPS 9500 was not quite up there with them. However, CNPS 9500 would be my first choice on an IHS-removed CPU. My case is V1000 (Lian-Li) and it doesn't have a side duck.

I would still say the my #1 choice would be the Scythe Ninja..even over the tuniq!!

Just my opinion though..
