Sunbeam Controller LEDs, can you remove them?

Was wondering if the fan controller would still work if I remove the LEDs completely (they are way too bright)? Also for those that replaced the LCDs, did you have to break the original ones off (and wire the new one on), or do they pop out of the socket?

Yes you can remove or replace them. Simply unplug them from the sockets in the controller. You may need a needlenose pliers to get a grip, but they come right out. And go right in as well. Easy as pie, 5 minutes and I was done replacing all 4 LEDs.

You can replace them with other bipolar LED's too. I don't know offhand if the Sunbeam thing uses 2 or 3 pin LED's though; if it's 3-pin, you'll need to figure out if you need common anode (center lead positive) or common cathode (center negative). Use a lithium coin battery to find out the polarity.
