Sun monitor not working.

I had this monitor connected to my laptop on input #2 running 1200x1600. Other side is connected to a sun box. I do not get any picture on the monitor now. I could hear it click when I switched resolution but nothing on the screen with input 1 (sun) or input 2 (laptop).

I powered it off for a while and now when I turn it on, the lights over power and input flash on and off. Any ideas or is this monitor gone?

have you tried it with another machine? Also, can you pull up any internal settings to make sure the tube works?

BTW - I love your site... great idea to put that resource up... I'm definately going to peruse through it. 🙂

The monitor has two inputs, one is VGA the other is SUN. I've connected my laptop and another workstation to the VGA side and the sun box is working because it's dual head and the second monitor (same model) is working fine.

I can't pull up anything on the monitor as far as settings go. It's as though the tube is disconnected.

As far as dslwebserver.com, it's not my site. I just found it to be a tremendous resource for that, but I know the owner and will relay the info.

ahh... naturally I assumed it was yours... definately let the owner know that he/she has done a great job.

As for the monitor... if you can't even pull up internal settings... then it's likely the tube has gone.. or some internal circuit has gone.... you can try opening it up and seeing if it's fixable... ie: replacing caps, etc... or you can take it to a repair center to see if they can fix it....

or you can donate it to the local trash-heap and buy a nice shiny new one.

Sadly it seems this one died prematurely.

No.. don't think it was premature. This is one in the datacenter where I work. It is on 24-7 usually without screen saver or power management. It sits in our DC furnature which doesn't give it much room to breathe. I guess I was feeling guilty since I had my laptop connected to it at the time it died and was running 1200x1600. I guess my laptop had nothing to do with it.

no... I don't think your laptop had anything to do with it.... I didn't realize it was in a DC and on 24x7 like that.... if so, then you're right... it's not premature...
