The timing looks to be far enough out (2H08) that it really makes sense to only those folks who are wanting to upgrade their existing server farms. (speaking about 6-core dunnington of course)
For the rest of us commoners it would appear to be a much better value to just hold out for quad Nehalem and have 8 threads of goodness.
The stuff I do has about 20 concurrent threads (or more if I want to keep pushing, I'm a programmer these days), so I say keep'em coming AMD/Intel!
