Sumptin's hella weird with my Epson 740, infinite printer cartridge?

ok, yesterday it told me i had about less than 5% black ink remaining, and the little ink light was blinking. so i said, "damn, gotta buy a cartridge, i'll get one tomorrow" so, of course, i procrastinate, and i had to print something today, so i turned it on. "hmm, the light isn't blinking" i continue to print, and something weird happens. "WTF, all catridges are reported as FULL" so what's up with this? and things print perfectly!!

The reading on that monitor is basically a guess used based on what the printer driver has monitored in terms of what you printed. The new Epson 777 that replaced the 740 has a little chip built into each cartridge that monitors the ink usage. On your 740, if you pull the cartridges out and put them back in, it assumes that they are new and it resets the ink levels to full in the ink monitor contained in the printer driver.

ahh, i see. maybe my bro or sumptin took em out and put em right back in. hmm, i'm pretty sure the manual said NOT to do this.

Same thing happened to me using a Lexmark 3200 printer. I have two computers that I use and I only have one printer, when I switch the printer around, It has no clue how much ink is left. Right now one printer says the ink is all gone and won't let me print unless I click on "continue" after each page is printed, and the other computer tell me it's half full. This gets really annoying.
