I drive a 1998 Honda Prelude and will be using it mainly for city driving. It rains a lot in Vancouver, so I'm looking for good wet traction. It rarely snows here, but I already have a set of winter tires.

1010tires.com has a special on for Sumo tires where you buy 3 and get the 4th free. I've never heard of the brand Sumo, but it sounds like a pretty good deal.

Sumo Akina @ 1010tires.com

Though I have some concerns mainly because I've never heard of Sumo before. But it'll be about 25% cheaper than even the cheapest Falken and Kumho tires. I'm not looking to cheap out, but I'm looking for the best affordable value. I'll be using them on stock rims - 205/50R16

Edit: I emailed 1010tires about them and asked them about Sumo, here's what they said.

Sumo tires are an entry level tire marketed for people who need tires at a good price but do not expect better than average performance. They are not as good as any of the Falken or Kumho tires.

I guess I'll be looking at other tires then :)

With an $84 shipping charge you aren't getting ANYTHING for free let alone on a no name tire. Go to tirerack or discount tire and get some good tires for less.

In my case, I'm looking at a $25 shipping rate. And this is Canada's version of Tirerack and so remember that prices by default are in Canadian dollars. Regardless, I'm looking for a more reputable brand now.

you don't know anyone just across the border that can order from tirerack on your behalf?

Some of the Tirerack prices are quite attractive. I hadn't considered buying from the US because of the weak Canadian dollar, hassle and warranty (since I can't take it back to the store easily). But I would consider driving down to a shop in the Seattle area, if the price is right. I'll have a closer look and it looks like Tirerack and ship directly to a shop where I can get it installed.

Man, you Americans get everything cheaper. :(

I am pretty sure tirerack has local affiliates in seatle, call up tirerack and ask them, they should be able to drop ship to a shop in Seatle and you just drive over and have them put on your car.
