Summer vacation booked

My trip to Ireland/Scotland is booked and the flights paid for 🙂

My wife, the little one and I are in Ireland from June 30-July 11, then Scotland from the 11th until the 27th.

First stop in Scotland is St. Andrews where I'll hang out at the proshop until I get to play on the hallowed ground of the Old Course. All of the advanced booking times are gone for all of 2007 already :Q ... but fortunately there is a lottery system in place, and being that I'm a single I imagine I'll be able to squeeze on somewhere. If I don't play golf the rest of the trip, it'll be worth it just to be able to say I played there.

Of course, that also means I'll be grabbing myself some Open tickets ... though likely just the weekend to be fair to my wife. If I had my way I'd spend the entire week there, watching practice rounds as well as all four regular rounds. So far I only have clearance for two rounds, and obviously I'd prefer if it could be the weekend. I'm going to try to see if I can't get her to agree to a Wednesday practice round day too, where I can burn out my camera taking pictures.

Anyone else golfed in Ireland/Scotland and have any suggestions on where to play?

Edit: or anyone have suggestions on what to see/do while there?

You lucky bastard 🙂

Time to modify your pullcart to include a little compartment for your baby complete with window to watch you firing darts at greens 😉

Nah ... she can hang out with Mommy shopping while I drop the $275 or so to play St. Andrews. She'll be accompanying me on the home course, but not on the course over there.

I already have a bicycle carrier that might fit the bill if I can set it up to be pulled behind my pull cart 😛

I am incredibly pumped, even though I know how much this trip is going to cost.

Now, altogether, let us hope that Tiger Woods has his first child a few weeks early, so that he'll be in attendance to (hopefully) win his historic fifth major in a row 😀

Thats awesome. I'm seriously in need of a vacation right now. I've been thinking of going to Ireland for a while and seeing where my family is from in Kerry but with all this crappy weather a beach also sounds amazing. My parents liked seeing the Guinness brewery, the Blarney Stone, and really like renting a car and driving through the countryside themselves when they were there and I might do the same. Maybe it'll be worth to do just a short spring breakish trip to the bahamas and save my vacation days for the longer Ireland golf tour like yours. But i'm def in need of a beach soon or i'm going to turn intoLyle without a bahamavention soon. hahahaa
