So I'm gonna be doing a road trip soon, here's the route that I'm planning on taking. The route is set, and I have about 14 days. Right now as it is, the trip is taking me about 11 days. I need some suggestions about stops along the way that I should hit, but still be able to meet the time constraint. I've already planned on stopping by Yellowstone National Park and Mt. Rushmore.

Thanks!

Here are the legend for the numbers in case you're wondering:
1 - Vancouver
2 - Seattle (day 1)
3 - Livingston, MT (day 3)
4 - Old Faithful Geyser
5 - Worland, WY (day 4)
6 - Rapid City, SD (day 5)
7 - Mt. Rushmore
8 - Sioux Falls, SD (day 6)
9 - the world's largest cheeto place
10 - Des Moines, Iowa (day 7)
11 - Ann Arbor (day 8)
12 - Toronto (day 9)
13 - Kingston (day 10)
14 - Hanover, NH (day 11)

Chicago area is really going to slow you down. I'd tell you to drive through there at a certain time, but there is no decent time to avoid traffic.

so I guess I should swing south or skirt around the city on the outer-rim freeways then?

apparently Boston right now is on the top ten too, with the Big Dig and all.

Even the 294 loop is hell.

okay... so what can I do then? Just grit through it? or how far south do I have to go to avoid Chicago, and would that be worth the time?

There really are not many choices to avoid Chicago. There is not much located south of the city except farmland and back roads. I have had my best luck travelling around the city (I-294) early on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Make sure you avoid rush hour though.

what if I come in from the west on I-80 and switch over to I-94 at the Michigan border?

East bound on 80 to 94 is not bad, but the few miles west bound where 80 and 94 are one (where 65 hits 80 in Gary, IN) to where they split is terrible. The 10 or so mile stretch took me 1.5 hours one day.

That's a nice map.
Do you know where I can get the full map?
I'm interested in the southern regions.

Since you will be heading east bound, it should not be as bad. Of course it also depends on any construction that may be going on on Route 80.
