Summer Money Making Idea!!!

I am 17 and was thinking of a way i could earn some cash this summer. What if me and a friend did a camp where we tought kids to put together a computer and they got to keep it. The computer depends on how much the parents want to pay. So that way they get a new computer and their kids learn how to build it... is this idea stupid?

Who is going to cover the costs when a part shorts out, is broken, etc? Are you sure you want to be tech support for life?

Yeah, that's a bad idea.

How long does it take to teach a kid to put a few parts together? Monkey see, monkey do.

Also, you have to worry about the kids getting too interested and fubaring their computer after 'camp.' Plus, as minendo mentioned, you become free life-time tech support.

Depends on your definition on "camp", if the groups are fairly small then I think it's a good idea. For instance, have two sessions, 4-6kids per session. I think it's a good idea, but you have spell out what clearly to the parents what they are responsible for and what you are responsible for.

How much you looking to charge? How long is the camp?

thought of that, but you really dont save much building a computer. people would rather get a dell for cheap and have a warrantee.

Nice to see you trying to do something other than some horrible job that most kids have...at 17 I used to make money from websites...now I sell stuff on eBay, maybe you can try that.

you make a living selling stuff on ebay?

I think it's a great idea. Parents are always looking to give their kids an edge (sending them off to private school, etc.)

Not a living; I'm a college student. However, I make a lot more selling stuff on eBay than I would having a job or an internship during the summers. I don't see how I could work a job that was paying less than $10/hour when I could just sell a few things on eBay and make more money and take up far less time.

What ever happened to dragging your Dads lawnmower out and mowing the neighbors lawn?

I made an assload of money doing that in the summer when I was a kid.

There's only so much you can sell on Ebay though... haha 🙂

Where do you get the stuff you sell on there ??? buy from someone else, then sell it again or something ?

Parts are going to get broken when they handle them. Who's going to cover that expense?
