I guess you didn't have allergies like I did. It gets to the point where you're literally just crying, trying to use sandpaper to scratch your eyes, pouring snot out of your nose CONSTANTLY with no end, lots of itching, and sneezing. That's with meds.

I can't work on campus because campus is closed during summer for the most part and I am not even enrolled at the campus I'd like to work at yet.
Well, you're always super dramatic so whatever but the rest of my post still applies, especially employment around campus probably your best bet.

Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical Engineering. Definitely paid, $15-$20 an hour.

After 2nd year, sure. After 1st year? Skeptical. You just got done learning your first year of calculus at that point.

For CS major, I am very skeptical someone will get an internship with almost no programming experience at all. (Which is basically what you are around after 1st year places I've looked at)

Considering that lots of CS majors picked up programming while they were in high school....

Seriously, stop with the excuses.

That's different obviously. If you picked it up in high school and know a language quite deeply, then you're obviously experienced...

Wait a minute... isn't the government paying for your entire education? And most of your living expenses? And your text books?

Starting about a year ago (Parents pay for books). That's not an advantage academically but only financially, at this point. (Which is too late to matter for the academic part)

My allergies are worse than yours and I did construction work when I was a teenager, and did retail when I was younger. My allergies get so bad my throat gets scratchy, closes, and I cough until I throw up. You seriously need to grow up and stop making excuses for everything in life.

I'll give you that. With CS you probably should know some languages because you can learn them on your own. These are practical skills you can use at an internship. But ME's and Civils pretty much don't know anything very practical (only theory) until they actually start working somewhere, and that is the point of the internship. If you completed only one or all of your math classes, so what? What can you actually DO? For most, the answer is not a whole lot.

So it doesn't hurt to try.

That's something you do if you A) already have experience or B) are about junior year or further in school. I'm neither. People in my field are going to be like, "you don't have in-depth knowledge of all these programming languages and thingy-ma-jiggers? You can't even be an unpaid intern!"

Trust me, there are internships out there if you are willing to show that you want it. Persistence/initiative over experience are usually what companies are looking for when it comes to internships. Get out there, talk to your advisors, visit companies, and establish connections within your field. It's better to start now and it doesn't take any "experience" to do.

I don't get how you did construction work if you can't breathe unless your meds actually worked. :/ I can't even open my eyes most of the time when my allergies kick in. There's no "powering through it" either. Like I said, if your shit works then ok, but nothing works for me anymore.

Like I said, go to the doctor. You only try OTC crap. OTC crap doesn't work for me either. Plus there's times you forget to take your meds for the day but you man up and do your work the best you can anyways because you have a responsibility to yourself and the world to not be a drain on society.

Like I said, my current college is of no help. Future college will be of help, but I have to be there first. :p

Not really... Go to a series of poor schools with mostly mediocre teachers and you'll find that's not true.

No...my gf went to a crappy high school in FL, then she went to a crappy 2 year school...before she transferred to a university, she got an internship at Deloitte and Touche.

When did she get the internship though... That's the point. Also, what kind of internship?
