According to my academic records, they have this little tidbit at the bottom:

Effective Fall 2003, the following apply:
CUM LAUDE: 3.598 min. overall GPA
MAGNA CUM LAUDE: 3.748 min. overall GPA
SUMMA CUM LAUDE: 3.847 min. overall GPA

Now, I searched UCLA's website and they have nothing. I searched Google, and I getLesuire Suit Larry game :D

Basically I am wondering why they designate and how prestigious such things are.

well a 3.847 is basically all A's and 1 or 2 A-s in college, thats kinda hard to pull off

my stster had a 3.89 and suma was 3.9+ she missed because she got an A- in something instead of an A

Out of my EE graduating class, I think maybe 2 graduated with any type of honors...but there were only like 30 EEs anyways. I guess everyone was lazy :)

I wish I had enough time to raise my GPA back up to Cum Laude level... oh well. Five years and I'll still only graduate with a 3.45.

Cum Laude: You worked hard!
Magna Cum Laude: You cheated with the best!
Summa Cum Laude: You got a very rich daddy!

I graduated summa cum laude. While not 'prestigious' per se, there aren't very many people that graduate with it. While it's not something you'd run around just telling people, it's good on the resume.

I suppose if he graduated "ima gunna cum", that means he blew off school and majored in coeds.

Do they graduate with honors from Grad schools? Just curious... Of all my eduaction experience; high school, undergrad, grad school, I did my best academically in Grad school. I was wondering if they did that lauding thing there. I guess tI'll find out on Sunday.

(GPA into final term = 3.92)

I always thought grad school grades were higher... I think the average GPA for a class was around 3.4 or 3.5. Of course, grades stopped mattering once you got your bachelors... it's all about your research and/or paper...
