One of my friends just bourght the Suma GF3 Ti200 Special edition, it comes with 3.6 ns. RAM. But the 3.6 ns RAM on this card is'nt stable when running @ 240 (480 DDR) Mhz! I find this really starnge as the 4 ns. RAM on my ASUS V8200 ti2 deluxe is 100% stable at 250 (500 DDR) Mhz.
This makes me think that the RAM on the SUMA might not be 3.6 ns. (I wanted 2 look at the RAM, but the Cooler is damn difficult 2 get off)
So can anyone please tell my how to calculate from nanoseconds 2 megahertz?

It's pretty simple, just do 1000/X where X is the nanosecond

so 5.5 ns memory (grr mycard) is 1000/5.5 = 181 mhz
3.6 ns memory should be 1000/3.6 = 277mhz

So it seems that your friend got the same problem as me, roughly.

In theory 3.6ns Rated DDR SDRAM should be good for 277/555MHz.
Of course that's purely theoretical and MANY other things besides it's rating impacts that attainable clockspeed, among which is voltage, PCB quality, trace lengths, etc etc etc.

Just because it's 3.6ns rated definitely does not mean you are in any way guaranteed that it will overclock to 555MHz, or anywhere near that... it merely gives you a better chance at hitting that speed then a card with lower rated RAM.
It looks like your firend was just unfortunate and his board doesnt want to clock the memory beyond 500MHz, while you were lucky on your board.
The RAM on his card most likely is the 3.6ns it's suppoed to be.

The rating of the RAM is never a valid determinator of potential overclockability, it will merely give you a vague hint of it's capabilities.

I just read a review of several video cards GEForce 3 on either Anandtech or on Tomshardwareguide. Check it out.
I remember the comment that the Suma "flunked."
