Suits on Ebay?

Been thinking of getting a suit here soon as the need arises more and more with formal dinners and all, and I see things like Armani suits going for like $130 to $600. This has to be one of those to good to be true deals right?

just to be clear I was not thinking of buying one, I was merly looking because of a suggestion from someone.

Don't do it, they're all fakes.... I learned the hard way. 🙁

Just my suggestion. 😉

If you jsut need the occasional suit just go to pennies when they run the next sale or check the clearence rack.

You can get suits for around $100-$200 most of the time that look pretty good.

JC Pennies is a pretty good place for an average suit. I got my last year's suit from there.

I would NEVER get a suit online. I urge you to go to a store and try it on. Unless you plan on getting it altered some suits just won't look right on you. Best bet for a cheap suit is to go to Sears, JC Penny, etc. and get one there. The people are pretty helpful and you should find your ideal suit.

I have tio wear suits twice a year for work I just bought some at penny's

cheap and look pretty good.

And the fit makes more of a difference than the designer.

I got a great Dinner Jacket (Tuxedo) from a local charity shop - cost £10 and was in great condition. Got it dry cleaned and was as good as new. It's worth checking for them if you ever pass one of these shops (there's loads in the UK - don't know what the situation is in US, sorry!)

No doubt.

With suits, sizes only give you a good idea of where to stary trying things on. NEVER buy a suit on just size alone. Comfort is always the big issue with suits and you can't tell that by looking at a picture.

BTW... you don't need an armani suit for the occasional... occasion... even if you can get it for cheap.

Ohh yeah, we got 'em here. Good Will, Salvation Army, etc
Great for clothes, mis-matched glassware, and 20 year old camcorders

😀 Yeah, some of the video/computer stuff they have is amazing. Very good for cheap clothes!

If you're willing to pay $600 go to a real tailor and get one made. Just because there's a tag that says Armani doesn't mean it's going to fit you best.

I wasn't actually looking at getting one from Ebay like I said in my OP, I was just saying that people would have to be pretty dumb to think that they are getting an armani suit for $150. And I agree with most of you, buying a suit online is never good, I won't even buy shoes online becuase some styles fit different.

if you are fairly tall and skinny i got some awesome suits that dont fit me anymore.
i guess i should sell them on ebay, jack victor, all kinds of stuff.

I got my suit from Nordstrom Rack. I think it is one of the best places to get a cheap suit that doesn't look cheap.

I got two suits at a local Good Will, and had them altered and dry cleaned last year. $200 for two suits that fit me better than anything under $500 each is a good deal, IMO.

In my opinion, there are some great deals on mens suits on Ebay. Armani, Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers, Joseph A Bank, etc. If you don't wear suits everyday and perhaps need one for the occassional event... it can be a good find. Approx. $50 +$50 for alterations and you've got a $600-$800 suit. Cool.

Edit: As mentioned... watch out for brand new Armani or brand new Hugo Boss stuff. It's now always legit.

I have tried buying various tailored clothes on eBay, but have given up on it. As far as I can tell, everything I've bought is authentic, but there have inevitably been fit problems severe enough that they can't be cured through tailoring. I've ended up giving several Armani, Zegna, and Brooks Brothers items to charity as a result.
