Think you got that mixed up...

No I didn't. Investment banks are way too anal and need to loosen up especially working 100 hours/week. Internet company employees are way too relaxed, they need to get more serious.

Are you describing the way things should be or the way things are? I work at an investment bank and I can assure you, $2000 suits are the norm...

Same here. Bust my ass off 120 hours/week and people talk behind my back when I wear a Hugo Boss suit, cause it cost me *only* $1200.

They sell suits for that little? 😉

Which firm are you at?

Have to wear a suit everyday at my conservative financial services company. Maybe its part of the reason we are one of the top 11 highly rated financial companies in the world.

You work 17+ hours a day for 7 days a week? 😕

Well at Goldman the typical first year analyst works about 100 hours a week; of course all of that time is not spent working, but any less face time and one could probably count on a negative eval and a lower bonus than everyone else (bonuses make up the majority of bankers' compensations). There have been instances where I have not left the office for 72 hours.
