Suit wearers: Buying a suit

allright folks, I need a suit for tommorow (today) by 6:30 pm. I'll be up at 8 am.
Basically i just need a standard 3-button black/charcol suit. Where should I look? Options that have been brought up are places like JC Penny and Men's Warehouse. I went to a Macy's and found a "kenneth cole" for $500 - 30%..and a "calvin klein" at another store for the same price.

The bottom line is I only need this a few times a year, I don't care what brand it is as long as it doesn't look cheap or anything. Any advice on where to buy this from? How good of quality is Men's Warehouse stuff compared to say JC penny or a name brand suit? I'm a 19 year old college kid so I won't be needing expensive suits for a while. Just a basic black that's not gonna look like crap.

I get my suits from Macy's. They usually look pretty good. I have one Alfani suit and two from Liz Claiborne, all gotten on sale.

Men's Wearhouse is decent, and usually has good prices.

- Grey/charcoal seems to be preferred over black. I, however, think a black suit would be more handy.
- Single breasted. No question.
- Make sure it can be altered (i.e. waistline) if you gain/lose weight.
- If it's not completely comfortable when you put it on, it's not going to get any better.
- If the fit is not 100%, make sure they do the alterations for free.

Men's warehouse should be alright, dunno about the same day alteration though. Last time I had a suit altered there it was about 3 days, but they could probably do same day alterations. I find the suits there to be more traditional though.

The last two suits I got were Hugo Boss and DKNY (both from Macy's) and they have a slimmer cut, which fits my body type a little better (I'm a tall, lanky guy).

From looking at the location in your profile (Minneapolis, MN) check out the Brooks Brothers Factory Store at Albertville Premium Outlets. I got two suits from the store in Orlando, FL and they are very well made (looks like this). The jacket was $240 and the pants were $80.
