Suggestions please

I was given a DELL Dimension 2400 that was soaked in a mild flood last spring.
It was not on, it has not been turned on. It sat in about 5 inches of rain water for about an hour before being rescued.

Should I....clean all the boards and connections and try it, or call DELL and puss out?
I need a new battery as this one is corroded.
Any one have any directions for me.

I'd make sure it is all dry, and start it up.

put it in a bucket of water, it will feel more at home there and most likely start up for you.

Dump a cub of salt on the motherboard, that should help dry up any water thats left over.

Step by step guide:

1. Get an extension cable
2. Plug it into the extension cable
3. Take the cable and go as far away with it as you can (preferably round a corner)
4. Plug it into the wall
5. Cover your ears and turn it on!
