Looking at upgrading my current rig and have settled on the following motherboard and cpu

ASUS A8N-E
Athlon 64 3200+ Venice

If anyone sees any issues with my CPU/Mobo selection, please let me know.

I'm looking at different PCI-E Video Cards, but unsure which to select.
Not looking for high end or anything just something that will allow me to play a game when I want to, don't use the system as a game machine but do want some flexibility.

Thanks!

6800 (no letters).

I don't know what you mean with "flexibility", but NVidia's drivers are better when it comes to older or obscure games, not to mention obscure OSes like Linux and FreeBSD in case you want to try those.

The 6800 has more memory bandwidth than the 6600GT which means you have more reserves for high-quality settings.

Look out on the deals forum, these are pretty expensive when just bought in retail.

if you can afford to upgrade regularly then you may not blow up too much in one go:

cheap-6600gt
middle cost-X800,X800pro
higher cost-X800XL

ask others if there is probs with X800s , just confirm

actually if possible better stick to nvidia, but if ati gives more bang..

I think I will go with either the 6600 or 6800 since there are drivers that will be supported in other OSes such as Linux.

Thanks for the suggestions!
