I like the composition, but I'm not happy with the finished product. The haze kinda detracts from the image for me.

Any suggestions on what you think i should do?

too bad you didn't have the forefight to shoot that in something between 2000 and 3200 ISO. then again, high ISO on digital looks like crap. Need film for the artistic softness gained by the large grain sizes.

Where is this Lake Lucerne?

Where I lived in Ohio we had a little lake called Lake Lucerne as well. We all called it Lake Latrine because it was a crappy lake.

looks like there's some extra blue in the picture too. I'd cut cut that down in the blue channel levels

Increase the contrast and play with color temps.

here's a quick stab at it with Adobe Lightroom using the JPEG you posted:
http://img515.imageshack.us/my...e=lakelucernesmey3.jpg

That's just setting a Medium Contrast tone curve, reducing the Lights and Darks by 5 (trying to preserve the top-left corner), increasing the highlights by 5, Sharpen by 50 (out of 200), making the blues darker and more saturated, and the greens and aquas brighter and more saturated.

I don't know how to digitally replicate the effect of a polarizing filter, but if I did, that's what I would do. Of course, next time you take the shot, use a polarizing filter to make the sky more saturated.

Still needs cropping and horizon leveling. Trim right, cut some of the sky and lake, rotate left about .4 degrees, and uncenter the horizon.

The island is too centered. The lake and mountain peak horizon are too centered. The HDR aphex did is cool, but I would back it off about 15% in the final.

Well i have about 20-25 different versions of the same shot, all slightly different angles and compositions, so i'll play around with those as well...

is it really too centered ? I think it does look nice as its composed...regardless of the "rules" that exist
