Suggestions on replacing my current 8800GTX?

Currently my 8800GTX is acting up and I am gonna need a replacement for it soon I think. What would be a good card to replace it with that gives a big enough boost in FPS to make it worth it's price with my current rig listed in my sig? I am not looking for a SLI solution but a single card solution. Thanks in advance.

8800gtx next to a GTX280

About the same length at 10.5 inches, although the GTX285 cooler takes up a bit more space. According to google, the GTX295 is the same length also

GTX 295 is overkill for your monitor. Get the 285 if you have the cash, or if you want to save, GTX260 C216/4870 1gb are great for 1680x1050.

Interesting. How does the GTX260 C216 and 4870 cards compared to the GTX in the performance area vs a single 8800GTX? Also what is the difference between the 280 and 285 cards?

Here's a Tom's comparison of GTX280/260, 4870512mb, and 8800GTX. Although in several tests the cards seem to be CPU limited...

I would buy a GTX 280, they aren't that much more expensive than the GTX 260-216s and still much cheaper than the GTX 285 cards (which are just overclocked GTX 280s on 55nm).

At 1680 x 1050 you don't need a top-end, high-dollar VidCard.
Unless you plan on upgrading to a larger, higher resolution monitor, a GTX260 or HD4870 512 would work fine at 1680 x 1050 albeit slightly limited by your CPU.

Of course if you've got the ca$h, get the GTX285.

Your PSU is fine for either.

I dropped in a 260 to replace my 8800GTX, and so far I'm quite pleased with it for the price. This is with a 19 *12 display; if you're running 1600 * 900, I'm sure a 260 would be quite adequate and let you crank up the eye candy.

All good advice here, the only thing I would recommend against is a 512MB 4870 coming from an 8800GTX. Otherwise, a GTX 260/4870 1GB or GTX 280/285 are upgrades in every way and would provide a nice improvement for you at 1920x1200.

Great. I've been getting lots of nvidia driver failure errors recently and this is why I will be upgrading soon. I suspect my GPU is on its last legs.

I was not aware that EVGA Nvida cards had a lifetime warranty. Though I would like a boost in performance since this card is showing its age but I'll check out my options and weigh them before deciding.

I was not aware that EVGA Nvida cards had a lifetime warranty. Though I would like a boost in performance since this card is showing its age but I'll check out my options and weigh them before deciding.

wow really cause thats one of their big selling points. all their high end cards have a lifetime warranty IF you register the card within 30 days of purchase.
