Hi!

I'm building a new rig and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the mobos and other components I am considering. I plan on overclocking cpu and gpu. Has anyone had any issues with a configuration like this?

Trying to decide between these two boards, any thoughts?..:

ASUS RAMPAGE FORMULA LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel Motherboard

ASUS Maximus II Formula LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

CPU, GPU, RAM

Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Wolfdale 3.33GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W

EVGA 01G-P3-1280-AR GeForce GTX 280 1GB 512-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card
-planning on SLI

CORSAIR XMS3 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TW3X4G1333C9DHX

Cooling unit:

Tuniq Tower 120 Universal CPU Cooler 120mm Cooling Fan and Fan Controler/Heatsink

thinking a 750W power supply would work with SLI, this mobos, 1 hard drive at 10,000rpm & DVD-burner

has anyone had any issues with this configurations? planning on running Vista SP1 and would like to moderately overclock

any suggestions/input/flagrant insults would be great!

If you want SLI, they wont' work with P45/x48 boards. Only Crossfire works with Intel chipsets.

If you go with Maximus II, you're getting the wrong RAM. If you go with the Rampage Formula, you're getting the wrong RAM again...you want the Rampage Extreme for DDR3.

If you go with any old 750W PSU, you're getting the wrong PSU. You want at least one 6+2 for single-card solution (which is what you will have when pairing nVidia with the Intel platform...except Skulltrail).

The proc and HSF looks good, tho.
