Suggestions on new printer.

Last year I bought the Canon Pixma 8500....WOW!! its the best 🙂 it's a photo-printer and it really delivers superb prints. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it only prints as large as 8x11, but that may not matter to you.

I'm also into digital photography in a big way so thats why I bouhgt a Canon photo-printer, they always delivery the goods 😀

CA

If you can find one, the Canon iP4000 or iP5000 are great choices. My local Staples had a few at good prices a couple weeks ago. Or you can do an online price search. These will be much cheaper to buy and operate for the long term than any other equally capable printers. I've been getting ink that works very well with my iP3000 from swiftink.com . The new Canon line that was just released has equally good printing quality but the cost of operation will be significantly higher than last year's models as they have new technology ink tanks that hold less ink than previously and they will be more expensive yet because they have an active component whereas the old tanks are totally passive.

If you're not into photography get a cheap color laser. Its much cheaper than ink in the long run.
If you are into photos get a quality inkjet from canon or HP. Anything that has seperate color cartidges is good.
You could spend the money for an expensive color laser, but it will be outclassed by better tech in a year.

I don't think there is any laser printer that can compete with a Pixma 4000 or 5000 on compatible ink tanks. If you are willing to go for the cheapest, you can get down to $0.001 or less per page - yes, that's a tenth of a cent. See my recent post in the Hot Deals section re. the iP5000
