I want to spend about $200-$250 on a new mobo and proc. I currently have Crucial Ballistix pc-6400 and an antec 900 case with a 400 watt antec psu. I will also be getting a new video card in the near future in the $100-$200 range. With the new prices im not sure what to get. I play alot of different types of games which is my pc's main purpose. Thanks fro the help.

p35 ds3r at newegg for 135 shipped. e4400 for 113 starting tomorrow. If you can push it on the vid card, hold out for the gts320mb to go closer to 200 AR, if not you can get an x1950xt for 150AR on newegg right now. psu might have trouble with that system depending on what else you have in it, however.

I agree with bryanW1995. The P35 DS3R, by all accounts I have seen, is a great oc'er so it pairs wonderfully with the E4400.

thanks - a couple of questions and additions

I am willing and desire to OC and Im using a 300gb sata hd.

1. Why the p35 ds3r over the 965p ds3 at about $25 cheaper? I know the p35 has the 1333 fsb but the 4400 doesnt use it. Is there another reason?

2. The e4300 and e4400 are the same price. is one more OCable and why would anyone buy the 4300 over the 4400 at the same price?

3. Im thinking of going cheap on the vid card and getting a 7900gs or another card in the $100 range. I may try to upgrade again when Starcraft 2 comes out if necessary. Any thoughts on this?

1. The p35 board is a better overclocker and can be used for a potential penryn upgrade in the future. It has a fantastic reputation, too. The 965p is a good board, too, it's just very outdated. You could buy the 965p board and get an e4500, but you'll probably get the same final oc out of the p35/e4400 combo as you would out of the 965p/4500 combo. Also, the e4500 isn't even out yet and you would bust your budget going up to e6550.
2. The prices just dropped today on intel chips. The e4400 is faster and has a better multiplier.
3. What games are you playing? What monitor/resolution? The 7900 gs could be fine, or it could be terrible. ATI and nvidia are both supposed to come out with more mid-range type cards in the next few months so you might try to get by with your current card for a few months and see what pops up.

Thanks, ill definetly go with the p35 and the 4400. Currently I dont have a particular game im playing, although ive been playing spaceforce ru. But i want the capability to play newer games if i find one. I also occasionally play counter strike.

As far as my current card, i have a 9800 pro so its not really an option. I probably wont be purchasing a video card until somewhere around august 1st or maybe even later.

My monitor is a 22" samsung 203b, as far as in game settings im not sure.

the samsung 203b is 20", not 22. Its native resolution is 1400x1050. I'm running everything I can throw at my x1950xt at 1440x900 with no probs.
