Suggestions on how to "elevate" tower case from the floor

Hey, all... need some advice... I have a back room in my basement that serves as a combination exercise and "server" room. My primary AD controller and file server is housed in an old steel tower case that currently sits on the floor. However, as this is a basement room, and as I was recently reminded when my hot water heater went out, there is potential for water to find it's way into the room. It's a finished basement, and it generally stays very dry, but it's still possible.

So... I'd like to get the case up and off the floor at least a few inches so it'd be protected from all but the most drastic flooding. Does anyone have any recommendations for how best to achieve this. The case doesn't have slots for casters of any kind, so I'm thinking some sort of stand. Ideas? TIA!

Something like this is just what I was thinking. I may go with one of those. Thanks!

Corky,

I tried the plastic file box, but the case is such a beast that it seemed a bit precarious. The wooden box would be a better option assuming it's long enough to run the full length of the tower from from to back. I need to go raid the attic and see what I have up there that might do the trick! Otherwise, I'm thinking one of those CPU stands is the way to go.

I've got one of those monster-sized Rocketfish cases. I just built a shelf, supported by gussets, and screwed it to the side of my desk about 8" off the floor.

Made my own.

Three pieces of Wood, 6 screws, and black spray paint to match the case.

$5 expense, 20 minutes of work.

you can buy caster wheels at the hardware store.
or simply go to the cabinetry isle and get some cabinet knobs/handles or even door stops and screw those into the bottom as feet.

A friend gave me a computer caster-wheel stand that CompUSA used to sell. It was expandable in width and had four wheels.

Frankly, though, I gave the present back. Allowing your PC to roll might not be the safest thing, since it might increase the chance of the PC moving excessively if it's bumped. Moving PCs while running risks damage to the hard disk heads or platters.

Just a thought....
