suggestions on an lcd tv?

Hope this is the right place for this..I posted over at AVS but their LCD section is kind of useless.


Need to find a TV for my dad..I don't follow LCD much..more of a plasma fan so need some input.

Budget: 400-500
Seating: Anywhere from 3' to about 8' I'd say..depending on if he's sitting on the edge of the bed or laying down
Size: 32-37"
Uses: Mostly standard definition TV for now, possibly HD later on. He does want to get a Blu-Ray player though, but it'd still be mainly standard def. TV viewing for the time being.
 
Check out Craigslist for someone trying to get rid of a working normal CRT TV. At that size, watching SD (which will normally be in 4:3 format), you'll be better off. Bonus is, you should be able to pick up at least a 32" CRT for pretty cheap. Try and find one with Component (not just composite) input(s), that way you can feed good quality source to it.
