any suggestions on routers that can handle 400+ open connections?

i often times have hundreds of open connections. my dlink DI-524 just cant take it. and starts lagging bad. i had a netgear rp614 which did a little better, but all the stress killed it after a month or so (and killed its rma replacment, and killed that rma's replacment) :(

300 hundreds connections with residential Intrenet Connections?

Is it really a Router problem?

The Entry Level Market is Not developing Wire only Routers for a while.

A a result what ever is available is the state of the art circa few years ago.

In addtion the Wireless Routers cost only within $0-$10 more.

You do not have to use the Wireless just Switch it off.

I have similar needs as well. My roomate and I share a cable connection from adelphia. We both download a lot of craps using bit torrent which opens a lot of connections. When our number of connections goes over 200, our Motorola WR850G simply freezes up!!! We need to power on and off the router in order to make it work.

Is there a router than handle that many connections?

My SMC 7004ABR was able to handle those connections. I'm pretty sure that router has been discontinued already.
