Hello friends...(Sorry for my long msg posted here...)

I am new to this group and from netherlands...am planning to get a pc of following configuration given below...please feel free to comment on that..

I really need valuable some valuable tips for this specification whether it's compatible from all aspects. Keep in mind that I am planning to go for dell. Make sure to highlight on video card (See below) which will help me a lot in deciding when to buy my pc.

I will using mainly for net browsing, downloading stuff, games and especially plan to do some movie editing along with my sony digital camera.
Further to the suggestions on my configuration could you give some tips on selection of video cord as I am planning to work along with video camera for editing /making movies (mpeg files)etc. Is it better to have 32MB Geforce 2 MX Nvidia 4x AGP Grafische kaart (with TV-out) or 32MB Geforce 2 GTS DDR nVidia 4x AGP Grafische kaart?
I am planning to go for dell for below specification. Presently dell doesn't support for GTS DDR Video cord with TV-out option but I like to have that as it may be handy to watch dvd's on bigger flat tv. So
I am confused whether to wait for couple of weeks to get GTS DDR with tv-out or have it now with 2 MX if it is also excellent for video editing etc...

Thanx for reading this ..sorry if it consumed some of ur time...if you can please pass ur tips and experience..

Thanx in advance..

Looks great IMHO.

Regarding the Geforce MX/2, get the Geforce 2. The MX doesn't have DDR RAM, making it slower in most if not all cases when compared to the GF2. You could always get the MX and once you get it in, trade it for a GF2. It really depends on you since you said you wanted to to editing and such with it.

Flambus...
I am not that much in to short forms...could make out something...AIW is All in wonder...what's that gf? I couldn't get it...you mean to say that with this it's easy to make my own movies on cd's ..So I can use CD-RW to burn this movies on cd's...is that write.. I initially thought it won't be possible...clarify?

gf = geforce (video card)
AIW = All in Wonder
ATI is the manufacturer of the All in Wonder

Link to ATI

If you're going to want to record movies from your camcorder. I believe that the All in Wonder from ATI might be a better choice than the Geforce. The Geforce that you have indicated suggests to me that there is no tv output or tv input. You need something like that to hook up the camcorder to your pc. The All in Wonder (Radeon) give you all the connections to hook up tv's, camcorders, cable, etc.... and the Radeon chipset in All in Wonder will still allow you to play the lastest games.

Just a suggestion.

Thanks for the reply...Dell gives Geforce 2 MX with tv-out option but they don't give the tv-out option with Geforce GTS DDR card...(that was initial dilema to which i should go for my requirements)..Further somebody told me that by having fire wire connection u can connect your digital camcorder to ur pc? hope that's true...if not correct me...does tv input subsitutes the fire wire connection for digital camcorders?

I believe that fire wire is the competitor to USB. It is just the type of connector. I really don't understand how you're going to use fire wire to link your camcorder to your pc. Check your camcorder specifications and make sure that it is compatible with fire wire(??). If this is true... where are you going to plug the other end?

You need a video card that can except your movies from your camcorder and encode them into mpeg format. Once encoded into mpeg format on your pc, you can then record them to a cd using your cd recorder in the pc. This is the most common method. If you have a Geforce video card with no inputs, you can't do it. (Unless your friend knows of another way) TV outputs on video cards are fine if you want to send your images from your pc to the tv, but that is all its gonna do.

Sounds like you need to get an All in Wonder.

So it's kind of connector..I agree...it's a kind of slot...so one end I will connect to this slot and the other end to my camcorder which has i-link (dv-out ..hope i remember it right)..U r right that Geforce with no input v can't do it.. but i thought to have fire wire slot for input...

If i understand you right, the Geforce video cards do not have any input for fire wire, to my knowledge. You need to do some research before you buy.

I configured my system with dell...it gives Geforce GTS DDR and it gives an option of having fire wire connection.. and it adds some 100 NLG (around 40 U$) for that..so i presume that one can get that configuration...anyway i will check it out with dell...

Your computer comes with a firewire adapter. Then your camcorder must come with software for a pc to link the camcorder to it???? If that is the case, then you should be fine. I guess i was thinking that you had the type of camcorder were it has only RCA outputs.

flambus..
yes, My digital camera has i-link slot which i think can directly fit to fire wire slot of system..so with this still u recommend to go for ATI AIW or I can choose one of Geforce 2 MX or
Geforce GTS DDR video card offered by dell... if so which one u recommend...furthere for dv editing we still have to get a external software kit for it...or v don't need anything...throw some light..
Thanx
